The article considers and analyzes the specificity of cooperation between M. Hrushevsky and the representatives of Ruthenian-Ukrainian Radical Party (RURP). First of all, it is pointed out that his coming to Lviv required the organizing of the close contacts with Galician Ukrainians, including the members of RURP. The main attention is paid to the illustration of the incipient relations between the scientist and radicals, and to the principal spheres and effectiveness of their communication. The paper confirms that the M. Hrushevsky’s learning the special features of Galician politics evoked the evolution of the scientist’s views and stipulated for his gradual transition to the liberal group of national populists in opposition. It is emphasizes that M. Hrushevsky took part in the process of the union of national radicals and the overwhelming majority of national populists; as a result the Ukrainian National Democratic Party (UNDP) was founded.
